Christians Deny John 3:16

Christians Deny John 3:16 Recently in a thread, I came across some disturbing comments that this post is going to address. Posts like this are necessary so that we can address important issues "as they happen" in the real world. Confusion leads to denial "The God I serve came to save me." This was a person's post in a Unitarian Facebook group that permits Trinitarians to post and comment for the sake of discussion.[1] Naturally, there are going to be comments. One comment in particular in this discussion was even more startling than the original post (punctuation is kept from the original): A son to us ..no son can die for the sins of the world..God sent himself in Jesus while father sat on throne..God is the only one who can pay for our sins . As a former trinitarian and person who believed Jesus was God, I expressed the same general claim: "only God can forgive sins; therefore, though Jesus was 100 percent man, he was also 100 percent God. the human par...

The Seven Mountain Mandate

Image
The Seven Mountain Mandate It's taken me a while for me to process the Roe V. Wade decision. This post is a bit late, but I had to meditate some. Like many on both sides, I never expected this decision in my lifetime. On one hand, it's a good thing that the decision is returned to "the states." After all, it's technically a "state's issue." On the other hand, I'm seeing ominous clouds on the horizon. Ultimately, I'm not overjoyed. To be sure, there are many who'll express sorrow and deep resentment that I don't rejoice over the decision. To be clear, I'm not a proponent of abortion--indeed, I believe it's heinous murder. But I'm also not a supporter of church involvement with the State, and for Scriptural and historical reasons. This post is going to reflect on an article I found on a friend's Facebook page.  The article is an Op-Ed piece by a guest writer on the New York Times . The Bio of the author at the end of the...

Fields White unto Harvest

Image
Fields White unto Harvest I've begun a new project dedicated to topically arranging the words of Jesus. In reading John 4:34-38, which is placed well before the twelve apostles are chosen, and before anyone is sent by Christ to preach, in the chronologies I've found,[1] it struck me that Jesus is speaking of God's work in the earth and what he was sent to do. Jesus says, "I have meat to eat that ye know not of. My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work." He then goes on to explain the concept of reaping and sowing and mentions how the fields are white unto harvest. He says, "And he that repeath receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth [the Father] and he that repeath [the Son] may rejoice together." Next, he explains a saying: "One soweth, and another repeath." The next part is key, I think, for understanding what Jesus is saying: "I sent you to reap that whereon ye be...
